Katana Pricing: Katana MRP Pricing, Plans and Add-on Costs

Katana pricing has three plans: a Free plan capped at 30 SKUs, Core from $299 a month, and Advantage at a custom price on an annual contract. Core includes unlimited users, unlimited SKUs, unlimited integrations and one inventory location, then rises with the number of sales orders you deliver and each extra location. Paid add-ons are Traceability at $249 a month, Manufacturing Management at $199 and Warehouse Management at $149, and the optional onboarding package is $2,000. So $299 is a floor, not a quote. What Katana costs you depends on order volume, locations and whether you make products or only resell them.

One correction before the tables, because plenty of review sites still get it wrong: planning and forecasting is not a paid add-on at Katana today. Katana's pricing page shows planning and forecasting, and AI Replenishment purchase order suggestions, as included on Free, Core and Advantage. The $249 add-on people remember is Traceability. Everything below comes from Katana's own pricing page; where Katana does not publish a number, we say so.

The Free plan is more generous than it looks for evaluation: every feature and add-on is switched on, so you can test manufacturing, traceability and forecasting before you pay for any of them. The 30-SKU cap is what ends it. Almost any real catalog passes 30 SKUs once variants and raw materials are counted.

Read the Manufacturing Management line carefully if you make things. Katana is known as a manufacturing tool, but step-by-step production planning with operation costs is the $199 add-on. Basic inventory, purchasing and sales order management sit in Core.

How much does Katana cost?

Katana costs at least $3,588 a year on Core before usage, or $5,588 in year one if you buy the $2,000 onboarding package. A manufacturer that adds Manufacturing Management and Traceability pays $747 a month in subscription alone. Sales order volume and extra locations then sit on top, and Katana does not publish those rates, so the honest way to budget is to price the fixed lines and get the usage figure from Katana's calculator for your own order count.

Katana also syncs with QuickBooks Online and Xero, so inventory value and cost of goods flow into your books. If a lender or investor wants a clean set of financials built from that accounting export, a financial statement generator turns it into a P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow statement without a spreadsheet rebuild. How does Katana's usage-based pricing work?

Katana bills Core on two usage meters: sales orders delivered and inventory locations beyond the first. The per-order price falls as you deliver more orders, and Katana's pricing calculator updates the monthly figure as you add orders, locations and add-ons. You can pay monthly, where the bill follows your actual usage, or annually, where the price is locked for the year with what Katana calls a small premium for absorbing fluctuations. If usage on an annual plan runs more than 20% above your estimate, Katana says it will renegotiate the plan.

The model helps seasonal businesses in quiet months. It hurts high-volume, low-ticket sellers: a brand shipping thousands of small orders a month pays for every one of them, even when each order is worth $15. If that is your shape, get a written quote for your peak month, not your average month.

Is planning and forecasting included in Katana?

Yes. Katana's current pricing page lists planning and forecasting (demand planning, replenishment planning and inventory control) and AI Replenishment (purchase order recommendations from demand history) as included on the Free, Core and Advantage plans. Older comparison articles describe forecasting as a $249 add-on; that price belongs to Traceability. Forecasting in Katana is built around production and materials, which suits makers better than pure resellers.

Does Katana have a free plan?

Yes. Katana's Free plan costs $0, needs no credit card and unlocks all features and add-ons, with unlimited users, locations, integrations and sales orders. The limit is 30 SKUs, lifted to unlimited SKUs for the first 15 days so you can import a real catalog. After that it works as an ongoing sandbox rather than a plan a business can run on.

Is Katana worth $299 a month?

Katana is worth it for small manufacturers who build products from bills of materials, plan production daily and sell through Shopify, WooCommerce or wholesale channels. Unlimited users at $299 is a real advantage over per-seat tools such as Fishbowl, and forecasting without a surcharge is better value than it was a year ago.

It is poor value for businesses that do not make anything. A reseller that buys finished goods pays $299 plus order usage and onboarding for a production-first system, when the job it actually needs done is knowing what to reorder, when, and how much. Questions to ask Katana before you sign

• What will my peak month cost? Give Katana your busiest month's delivered sales orders, not your average, and get the Core figure in writing.
• Which add-ons do I need on day one? If you make products, confirm whether you need Manufacturing Management ($199) and whether lot or serial tracking requires Traceability ($249).
• How are extra locations counted? A 3PL, a second warehouse and a retail store may each be a location.
• Monthly or annual? Annual locks the price with a premium; ask what happens if usage falls rather than rises.
• Do we need the $2,000 onboarding? It is optional on Core. Teams moving off spreadsheets usually benefit; teams moving from another system with clean data often do not.
