Storekeeper
For stores that sell on Shopify POS

Shopify POS inventory management app with forecasts and purchase orders for every store

Shopify POS rings up the sale and takes the unit off the shelf count. Storekeeper tells each store what it will sell next, when to reorder and how many to buy.

The short answer

Shopify POS keeps a live count per store, and POS Pro (about $89 a month per location in the US) adds inventory counts, purchase order receiving, stock transfers and low stock alerts. Neither forecasts demand or works out how much to order. Stocky, the app that did, shut down on August 31, 2026. Storekeeper fills that gap with a forecast, reorder point and order quantity for every SKU at every store, for $49 a month with one location or $149 with up to five.

What the buyer sees on Monday

A reorder list per store instead of a walk down the aisles

Most Shopify POS retailers still reorder the way they did before software: someone walks the floor, spots the gaps, checks the back room and emails the rep. It works until the store carries a few thousand variants, or until a second store opens and the gaps stop being visible from one counter.

The list on the right is what replaces the walk. Each line is a SKU that will drop below its reorder point before the supplier's next delivery, with the quantity that covers sales until the one after. Lines that can wait are not on it.

Figures are illustrative. Order quantities are rounded up to the supplier's case pack, which is why the mug line says 36 rather than the 31 the forecast alone would ask for.

What you already have

Shopify describes POS Pro inventory as "perform inventory counts, complete purchase orders, and get low stock alerts from a single place." That is the record keeping. The buying decision still happens in someone's head or in a spreadsheet.

Who buys this

Built for retailers whose shelves are the warehouse

A Shopify POS store is a strange kind of warehouse. Customers pick the stock themselves, the back room holds a fraction of what is on the floor, and a sold-out peg is a lost sale nobody records. You never see the demand you missed, only the stock you have left. Forecasting from each store's own sales is how you see it coming.

The stores that get the most from it reorder the same products all year: gift and home shops, boutiques with core basics, pet supply, wine and specialty food, outdoor and running stores, bookshops with steady backlist.

  • One store, one buyer. The owner buys between shifts. Starter at $49 a month replaces the Sunday-night spreadsheet with a list of what to order and when.
  • Two to five stores plus a website. Each store sells differently and the online warehouse ships web orders. Growth at $149 forecasts every location and drafts one purchase order per supplier.
  • Former Stocky users. You bought from Stocky's suggested orders and lost them on August 31. Your Shopify sales history comes across, so forecasts start from day one.
  • Six stores or more. Scale at $499 a month covers unlimited locations and adds transfer suggestions, so a slow store's surplus moves before you buy more.
How it works

From Shopify POS sales to a purchase order in four steps

The demo at the top of the page runs the same chain on sample data.

1

Connect Shopify

Locations, variants, stock levels and order history come in, POS and online orders kept apart by location. Nothing changes at the till.

2

Add suppliers

Lead time, order day, case pack and minimum order per supplier, with overrides for the items that come slower.

3

Forecast each store

Trend and seasonality per SKU per store, so December gift sets and summer stock are bought ahead of the rush, not during it.

4

Order and receive

Approve the suggested lines, send the draft purchase order, then receive the delivery on Shopify POS as you do today.

What you get

Retail inventory planning on top of Shopify POS

Shopify keeps ringing up sales and counting stock. Storekeeper decides what each store buys next.

A forecast per store

The downtown shop sells three times the candles the mall kiosk does. Each store gets its own number from its own register history.

Reorder points that update daily

Calculated from sales and supplier lead time, then recalculated as sales move. No more thresholds typed in once and never touched.

Seasonal buying

Last year's holiday curve is in the forecast, so Q4 orders go out in September with the quantity your store actually sold through.

Draft purchase orders

On Growth, approved lines become one draft purchase order per supplier, rounded to case packs and minimums, with the store on each line.

Dead stock per store

Items with no sale in 90 days, ranked by the cash they hold, so markdowns start with the product that costs you the most.

Online and in-store together

Web orders and POS sales are forecast for the location that fills them, so the website does not quietly empty the store's back room.

Your options, priced

Inventory apps for Shopify POS stores, compared honestly

Prices from each vendor's own pricing page or App Store listing. Where a vendor quotes, we say so.

Option Monthly cost Forecast and order quantities Best for
POS Pro alone About $89 per store No. Counts, receiving, transfers, low stock alerts Stores that need staff roles and counts, and buy by eye
Low stock alert apps $3 to $60 Alerts at thresholds you set; a few higher tiers estimate cover One store, a few hundred SKUs, a buyer who knows the numbers
Prediko $49 to $349 under $5M in sales Yes, priced by Shopify revenue band Shopify brands under $500k that want a success manager
StockTrim $67 to $397 under $5M in sales Yes, priced by revenue band Retailers that also run an ERP such as Cin7 or Unleashed
Inventory Planner by Sage $119.99 Essentials, full product by quote Yes; Essentials covers a single warehouse Larger retailers with a dedicated buyer
Storekeeper $49, $149 or $499 (less billed yearly) Yes, per SKU per store, draft POs on Growth Stores that want a flat price that does not rise with revenue

Where the others win: a single store under $100k in sales pays about the same on Prediko, and POS Pro does things we do not, such as staff permissions and receiving at the counter. Keep POS Pro for those and add forecasting on top. The alert apps are compared on our Shopify low stock alert app page, and stores with several locations should read the Shopify multi location inventory app guide.

Frequently asked

Shopify POS inventory questions, answered

Does Shopify POS have inventory management?
Yes, for record keeping. Every Shopify POS sale deducts stock at the store's location, and POS Pro adds inventory counts, purchase order receiving, stock transfers and low stock alerts. Shopify POS does not forecast demand or suggest how much to reorder, so most stores add an app such as Storekeeper for the buying side.
Is Shopify POS Pro worth it for inventory?
It is worth it if you need counts and receiving at the counter, staff permissions or returns at any store, at about $89 a month per location in the US. It is not worth buying for reorder planning, because POS Pro has no forecast. For that, a forecasting app costs less and does the part POS Pro leaves out.
What replaced Stocky for Shopify POS?
Shopify moved purchase orders, transfers and receiving into the admin and the POS app, and Stocky shut down on August 31, 2026. Forecasting and suggested orders were not replaced by Shopify. Former Stocky users now use a forecasting app, and our Stocky alternative page maps each Stocky feature to where it lives now.
Why is Shopify POS not updating inventory?
Usually because inventory tracking is off for the variant, or the product is not stocked at the store's location, so the sale has nothing to deduct from. Check Track quantity on the variant and confirm the POS device is assigned to the right location. Sales made offline sync once the device reconnects.
How do I count inventory on Shopify POS?
On POS Pro, start a Quick count in the POS app (up to 1,000 items per count), scan or search the items on the shelf and submit the counted quantities, which update the location's stock in the admin. Without POS Pro you edit quantities in the Shopify admin under Products and Inventory, one location at a time.
What is the best inventory app for Shopify POS?
It depends on what is missing. For alerts only, a low stock app at $3 to $60 a month is enough. For reorder planning, Storekeeper ($49 for one store, $149 for up to five) forecasts each store and drafts purchase orders, and Prediko is good value for Shopify brands under $500k in sales.
